I am ecstatic, over the moon, but also, very, very hush-hush until it's all finalised and I can let the cat out of the bag for real.

1.7 Avoiding Writing During NaNo

So during November, inevitably there comes a time where I would rather do anything, anything at all, than write another word. If you've participated in the great conspiracy and secret that is NaNo, you know of what I speak. My muse alternates between a seductive adonis beckoning me to build him into yet another mind-blowing erotica and Major Payne. He's a sadistic Dom with a whip in my mind and a short attention span. During NaNo, it can be hard to keep him focused; or he's so focused that my fingers blur on the keyboard, my wrist begins to smart and small whimpers escape my lips. My Muse likes that. But taking a break here and there is needed (like, I have to shower and eat, you know,) and creative breaks are a necessity. 3.11 Writing Romance and Why I don't like Fated Mates

I'll be perfectly honest with everyone, I didn't think I was qualified to write this post. I've written romantic subplots in every single one of my novels, I read romance voraciously, I've self-pubbed four romance novels and traditionally published a romantic suspense. But, I still don't think of myself as a 'real romance author' because I don't "live and breathe it enough." When I actually thought about the 'why' I felt unqualified I realized I was perfectly qualified to talk about romance, I was just teetering with imposter-syndrome. So, yes, I've not written 20 something romances yet, but if the goal is 20 novels in a genre before I'm allowed to discuss it, we'll be here too long. There are going to be Freudian slips. And puns.
